Cancer Journey… update…

When I began writing about our cancer journey, I had no idea where the journey would take us…

Today, I have a little more clarity of what to expect from our journey….

Grandma decided not to continue with her treatment… and I fully support her decision… the side effects of the drugs were taking away from her quality of life…

Stopping the treatment gave Grandma a lift in her mood… it was really a neat thing to see… she had taken control of her own life and she was feeling pretty good about it… as she should!

… then she went into the hospital…. for something completely unrelated…

… and a week later, as they were discharging her to home, she went onto hospice.

Hospice… we all know what that word means… we all know what it takes to “qualify” for services…. and we all know this is the beginning of the end….

Still, we don’t know how the journey will look… we don’t know where it will take us… and we don’t know how long it will last…

What I do know is this…. we’re taking the journey together!

Like most mothers and daughters… Grandma and I have had our issues over the years…. yet, love conquers all… and as difficult as it is, I am so very grateful to be able to care for her during this time of her life….

All for now,

Ann

Definitely enjoy the journey…the hardest part for me was not knowing when things would change…or how. (see my reply that I sent to your comment regarding my recent post.) Not knowing was driving me crazy. And then my mom said something one day that made me stop searching for answers. She simply said, let’s see what God does today…and she had faith that whatever came our way on that day, we would be able to handle it. No matter a person’s faith or beliefs, it’s truly about thinking positively and knowing that there is a solution for every problem.
